At the San Diego Association of REALTORS®, our strength lies in the passion and participation of our members. One of the most impactful ways to shape the future of our industry—and grow as a real estate professional—is through serving on a committee. SDAR committees are where ideas become initiatives, and initiatives become meaningful results for our members and the community.


Why Committees Matter

Committees are the lifeblood of SDAR. They bring together a diverse group of real estate professionals to collaborate, innovate, and lead. These groups help guide the direction of our association, influence industry policy, and organize events and education that directly benefit our members. Being involved means having a voice—and making it count.

Budget & Assets

The Budget & Assets Committee is responsible for formulating and proposing the annual SDAR budget and annual dues amount. They review financial statements, analyze economic trends, and assess their potential impact on SDAR. Additionally, the committee ensures the effectiveness of accounting procedures, contributing to the financial stability that attracts and retains members.​​​​​​​

Bylaws

The Bylaws Committee actively continuously reviews and updates SDAR bylaws to align with California Corporation law, and national and state association policies, and procedures. Their work ensures compliance and transparency, reinforcing member trust, member retention and continued growth in the organization.

    Caravan Hub

    The Caravan Hub meets regularly to coordinate efforts, share best practices, and align on strategies that enhance the visibility of listings and foster stronger REALTOR® engagement at the local level. The Caravan Hub plays a vital role in ensuring consistency, communication, and community across all SDAR Caravan events.

    Commercial Alliance

    One of 34 commercial association of REALTORS® nationwide, CRASD is “Your Industry Advocate and Information Source in Commercial Real Estate” in San Diego. CRASD mirrors on a local level the purpose of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) for commercial real estate, which is to enhance the ability and opportunity of its members to conduct their business successfully and ethically and to promote the preservation of the right to own, use and transfer real property. By organizing informative events on commercial development and new projects in San Diego, CRASD keeps members engaged and informed and offers the association added member retention and growth opportunities.

    The Education Committee actively promotes member retention and growth by designing and scheduling a comprehensive range of educational classes. They meticulously select and review instructors to ensure that SDAR members are well-prepared for the dynamic market. These classes cover market trends, ethics, technology, and the forms/programs essential for daily transactions.

    Facilities

    Members of the Facilities Committee should possess extensive expertise in office building operations, income and expense statements, building maintenance, vendor selection, and have the ability to assess the association’s real property assets. Proficiency in commercial real estate and experience in building management are highly encouraged. The committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for repairs and maintenance that are vital to the Association’s long-term success of managing its property.

    Grievance

    The Grievance Committee reviews complaints seeking disciplinary action in accordance with the C.A.R./NAR Professional Standards procedures. To qualify for this committee, you must have a minimum of 5 years as a licensed REALTOR®, no ethics violations and be selected through an interview process.

    The IT and Business Technology Committee conducts comprehensive reviews of the current and emerging technologies utilized by REALTORS® in their daily operations. The committee’s recommendations for which technologies and software programs SDAR intends to offer as member benefits is vital to the value the Association delivers to its members. By staying at the forefront of technology, this committee directly contributes to member retention and growth.

    Marketing Communications & Events

    The Marketing Communications & Events Committee collaborates closely with the SDAR Marketing department to propose updates to association messaging, event promotion, and industry-related communication. Proficiency in messaging, editing, marketing, and a keen eye for layout and design are essential skills for committee members, who play a key role in enhancing member engagement and attracting new members.

    Mediation

    The Mediation Committee contributes to the successful operation of the Real Estate Mediation Center which specializes in resolving disputes arising during any stage of the real estate transactions. This service is available to both the public and real estate professionals, including attorneys. Committee members will be vetted through an interview process and must demonstrate extensive mediation experience and training. The Mediation Center’s ability to successfully facilitate dispute resolution contributes to elevating the public’s opinion of REALTORS® and helps maintain member satisfaction.

    The Membership Committee focus on understanding the overall value the Association delivers to its members. The committee tracks and measures the benefits delivered to members through all Association Committees to ensure that the Association is delivering the highest possible value and benefits to its members.     Your Role on a Committee

    Chair Responsibilities:

    • Lead committee meetings with clear agendas and objectives.

    • Collaborate with SDAR staff to align committee goals with the association’s mission.

    • Delegate tasks and ensure projects and initiatives move forward.

    • Serve as a spokesperson for the committee (if applicable) when needed.

    • Provide regular updates to SDAR leadership.

    Vice Chair Responsibilities:

    • Support the Chair in all leadership duties.

    • Step in to lead meetings or represent the committee when the Chair is unavailable.

    • Help organize subcommittees or working groups as needed.

    • Prepare to take on the Chair role in the future.

    Committee Member Responsibilities:
