REALTOR® Code of Ethics

The REALTOR® Code of Ethics training requirement of the National Association of REALTORS® requires members to complete Ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time every three years. The current cycle ends Dec. 31, 2024.

Note: The 70/30 CE Exemption Rule (Business and Professions Code Section 10170.8) allows California licensees to avoid renewal CE education when they submit satisfactory evidence to the DRE Commissioner that:

  • They are age 70 or older on or before the expiration date of their license; and

  • Their license has been in continuous good standing for at least 30 years.

NAR has a similar exemption called a REALTOR Emeritus member. NAR requires for our members (i.e., the NAR Code of Ethics course). The only members exempt from the Ethics requirement are REALTOR® Emeritus members.
