At SDAR, getting involved starts with something simple: showing up. Whether it’s attending events, joining a class, earning a designation, reading email communications, or staying connected by liking and following our social media platforms, every touchpoint is an opportunity to build your network and stay ahead of what’s shaping the market. The more you engage, the more value you unlock—not just in knowledge, but in relationships that move your business forward.
From there, involvement becomes influence. Joining a committee is where members shift from participation to impact—contributing to decisions around advocacy, education, ethics, and the future of the industry. It’s also where collaboration happens, where ideas are shared, and where members begin to shape the direction of real estate in San Diego.
As your involvement grows, so does your opportunity to give back and lead. Whether it’s volunteering at signature events, supporting advocacy efforts, or mentoring fellow REALTORS®, your experience has the power to elevate others. For those ready to take the next step, leadership opportunities—from committee roles to the Board of Directors and even representing SDAR at the state level—offer a path to expand your influence and make a lasting impact.
At its core, SDAR membership isn’t just about access—it’s about participation. There’s a place for you here, whether you’re just getting started or ready to lead. And the more you put in, the more you get out of your experience.
So, whether you're new and looking to plug in, or experienced and ready to lead, SDAR provides a clear path to grow your influence at the local state and national levels.

You don’t need a title or years as a member of the association to get involved—you just need to get involved. If you're a newer member or just beginning to engage in the real estate community, SDAR committees are your entry point into leadership, relationships, and opportunities to serve.
What You'll Get from the Experience

Position yourself for future leadership opportunities
How to Join a committee
SDAR committees are where you:
Connect with peers
Contribute to real initiatives
Gain experience that sets you apart
Serving on a committee is not the same as attending a class, and understanding this distinction is critical before signing up. Here’s the difference:
Taking a class is for self-improvement and personal value.
You attend to learn, gain knowledge, and enhance your individual skills—it’s about providing value for yourself and your business.
Serving on a committee is for association governance and collective impact.
You participate to contribute, collaborate, and help guide the direction of SDAR—it’s about serving others and advancing the organization.
Start here before trying to jump to state or national roles—this is your foundation.
Think of this as building your reputation inside SDAR. Review the list of Committees below and select up to 5 - but please understand that you may be asked to serve on a committee you didn't select, and your choices do not guarantee a place on a committee. Committees are shown in alphabetical order:

You're not new to the profession? In fact, you consider yourself a veteran of the industry? Since you're already showing up, contributing, and building your presence—your next move is to join an SDAR Committee. Once you've served for two years, you can expand your impact beyond the local level to the state level.
And remember:
If you’re looking to gain value for yourself, take a class.
If you’re ready to create value for others, serve on a committee.
Through the California Association of REALTORS®, you can represent San Diego at the state level and help shape the direction of real estate across California.
