Experience Requirements

You need a minimum of two years full-time licensed real estate salesperson experience in the last five years or a four-year degree from an accredited college or university including a major or minor in real estate.

Get Your Fingerprints Scanned

All California real estate broker applicants are required to submit a complete set of fingerprints through an approved Live Scan provider with their Broker License Application.

Apply for the Broker State Exam and License

You may either apply for the State Exam and license at the same time to cut processing time; or apply to take the State Exam first and on passing the exam, apply for a license.

CalBRE processing time is approximtely 3-6 weeks. After you apply, you have 2 years to pass the State Exam

Take Your State Exam

You may only take your current government-issued photo ID into the testing room. You will receive your exam results immediately upon completion.
