Red Alert: C.A.R. Opposes Limits on Mortgage Interest Deductions

The California Association of REALTORS® is opposing AB 1905, a bill that would dramatically limit mortgage interest deductibility on primary residences and abolish the mortgage interest deduction for second homes to create a Housing and Homeless Response Fund.

While C.A.R. strongly supports creating viable solutions to the state’s homeless problem, it opposes targeting tax increases on homeowners, when many of them are already struggling financially during this difficult time. AB 1905 will be voted on by the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee on May 20.
