Black History Month - C.A.R. Programs Break Down Barriers for Homeowners

SDAR and the California Association of REALTORS® join the country in the celebration of Black History Month. We also join those who work to ensure that the promises of the American dream, which at one time were sharply withheld from the Black community, are freely available to all Americans. This work is particularly critical for expanding opportunity for California’s Black community. The impact of once-legal discrimination can still be seen in vast gaps between the homeownership rate for Black Californians versus the rate for all Californians – a gap that has actually increased since the Fair Housing Act of 1968 was passed. To learn more about the C.A.R. programs that are specifically designed to break down systemic barriers to homeownership, click here.
