Executive Orders Signed by Biden to Reevaluate Fair Housing Policies

In one of his first orders of business, President Joe Biden signed executive orders aimed at addressing racial equity, including one that directs HUD to reassess the effects of regulatory actions on fair housing policies and laws. Biden said he wanted "pursue a comprehensive approach to advancing equity for all."

The Trump administration had revised HUD’s interpretation of disparate impact rule under the Fair Housing Act to make it more difficult for plaintiffs to prove discrimination under this theory of proof.
