Rebuilding Together
SDAR: Proud Sponsors of Rebuilding Together
April 26, 2008
Volunteer to Make a Difference in our Community!
The San Diego Association of REALTORS® needs your help to make a difference in the daily life of our own San Diego firefighters. Rebuilding Together San Diego (RTSD) is a local affiliate of the nation’s largest volunteer home and community rehabilitation organization. Each year, SDAR sponsors a home for rehabilitation through RTSD. This year, SDAR will be helping to fix up a different kind of home… local Fire Station #35 which serves University City and surrounding areas. (Click here for a map.)

This year our team will benefit from the guidance and expertise of House Captain Boyd Masing, Vice President of Hammond & Masing General Contractors, Inc.
We need the help of volunteers and donors to make it all possible.
We hope you can join us by lending a helping hand! REALTORS® as well as members of the public are welcome and encouraged to volunteer. Please distribute this flyer to your colleagues and friends. SDAR members may register via Member Login: click here.
Here is a brief overview of what we will be doing on Rehab Day
Fire Station #35:
This station is in need of care to maintain the safety and comfort for our San Diego firefighters. The firefighters have done their best to maintain their station; however, the paint, cabinets, and flooring are decades old.
The Scope of the work is as follows:
Paint interior of firehouse
Replace and install kitchen cabinets (to be done prior to volunteer day)
Carpet and Linoleum Install
Replace existing shower door and enclosure in Chief’s Quarters.

Rehab Day Schedule
7:30 a.m. – Registration Begins
Turn in required Waiver Form for your official Rebuilding Together T-shirt. All participants MUST turn in a waiver on the morning of April 26 to work. Your T-shirt will serve as proof that it was received. Children under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a guardian. We regret that due to federal law, no one under the age of 16 may work on the project.
8:00 a.m. – Split off into teams for specific projects.
Lunch will be provided. Rubio’s is donating lunch for the volunteers at the fire station and the neighboring police station which is being worked on simultaneously.
Resume work in afternoon (Shifts = All Day, Morning and Afternoon)
Note: An e-mail with information regarding location, times, waiver form, and other details will be sent in the week prior to the event.
Although we will have some supplies available, it is recommended that you bring your own, especially paintbrushes. Extra paintbrushes are always needed and ensure that you always have something to do. Kits are available at Home Depot for about $5 to $10.
We are looking forward to another great project, and the firefighters are looking forward to this day and are ready, willing and able to assist the volunteers as well! We hope you will join us. For more information or to donate wishlist items, please call (858) 715-8005.
