Fraud Alert: Suspicious Activity at Local Caravans
November 30th, 2010

Recently, a REALTOR® contacted SDAR to alert others about a man attending open houses, perhaps with the intent of theft. He was seen at a open house in the Kensington area acting suspiciously. When asked by a REALTOR® for his business card, he provided what is thought to be the business card of someone else. This past weekend he was seen at an open house in the Point Loma area. Again, he was acting suspicious and the same REALTOR® found him in the master bathroom rifling through the homeowner’s prescriptions. When questioned, the man rapidly left the home.

The REALTOR® who caught him describes him as about 50 years of age, 5′8″, 170 lbs., with dark hair. He has been seen on several occasions at the Downtown Caravan and is often dressed casually. If you have encountered this man at an open house, please contact editor@sdar.com.

SDAR members are reminded to always exercise caution in your day-to-day business. If ever you feel threatened contact the police immediately. When holding an open house, there are several measures you should take to protect yourself and the homeowner/seller. Always remind your clients to hide valuables and remove prescription drugs. For safety tips for you and your clients, click here.
